How to succeed in Affiliate marketing in 3 Easy Steps

Affiliate marketing is often one of the first ways people try to make money online. It is also one of the easiest ways to start earning your first paycheck online. That being said how is it possible that so few people really manage to make even a small amount of money with affiliate marketing? This can be due to several factors but most people fail because they simply do not know how to do affiliate marketing. Here are 5 steps to help you to succeed.

1. Choose the right program
   1. Choose a program that has residual income: for better profits try to choose a product that has a monthly commission. Examples of this would be a membership site or an autoresponder. The customer pays a monthly fee for this type of product and you will receive a commission every month.
   2. Make sure the company pays good commissions: be sure the company will pay you commissions that are worth your efforts and will pay you on time, preferable monthly or every 2 weeks. For this to happen, the company needs to have a good tracking system, preferably in real time.
   3. Be sure the company is reliable: do a little research on the company before joining to be quite sure that they are reliable. You can look them up on Google and check their website carefully. If you really want to be sure you can ask around about the company on forums which are related to your market. 
   4. Be sure the product is good: it is no good wasting your time and effort promoting a product which is not good. many of the best affiliates will sell products and services that they have used. This allows you to evaluate a product before you promote it.
   5. Be sure that your sponsor has a good sales page: it is no good promoting a product or service if your sponsor does not have a good sales page. All your work will be wasted as the visitors you send to the sales page will run away in disgust and not bother to buy the product. They will also lose trust in you.

2. Promote to the right market: a common mistake that new affiliates make is not promoting to a targeted market. What do we mean by targeted? This term means a market that is interested in the product or service you are promoting. For example if you are selling a product that will be suitable for someone interested in health do not try to promote it to people interested in starting a home business. You may get a few chance buyers but not as many as if you had promoted the product to people with an interest in health.
3. Be sure to pre sell not sell the product: this is another classic mistake that affiliates make. They try to sell the product or service. This is a mistake because the potential buyer will see your sales pitch and then your sponsor’s sales page. This means that the visitor will get a double dose of sales pitch. this will turn off buyers as nobody likes being too much selling. Instead create curiosity in your visitor and compel them to take a look at your sponsor’s sales page. If you invoke curiosity and desire to know more about the product in your visitor they will be happy to see your sponsor’s sales page and be more inclined to buy.

If you follow these three steps you will be well on your way to being successful in your affiliate marketing. Next week we will examine ways to promote your affiliate products.
